I’ve been sitting, off and on, with this painting from my study of women praying.
Like most of the paintings in this series,
I paint and paint and sit and paint and keep coming back
until I reach this point when I just let my brush drop
in response to the heart-dancing stillness inside…
the point when I can’t seem to take my eyes away.
That’s when I know she’s breathing a life of her own.
That’s when I know the light.
